Weekend Reflections: Projects, Graduation, Reading

April 16, 2016

I think weekends are a great opportunity to catch your breath from projects, spend time with family and friends, and just kick back and have some fun. It is also a great time for reflection, not only on how your week went, but also a chance to think about what you should do differently moving forward. The weekend is also a great opportunity to grab a cup of java and catch up on some reading. If you are at home and enjoy the ambiance of a coffee shop, check out this Coffivity. They say their sounds are scientifically proven to help you increase your productivity and you can select sounds from Morning Murmurs to University Undertones.

Projects

This week I have completed several projects for my website, turned in a project for school, and wrote a small paper. I am also working on an editorial calendar for my website. So many great ideas – not enough time! I even let Wally, our Roomba, vacuum the house so I could pretend I did some housework.

Are having problems staying focused while working on projects?  Here is another blocker I came across. It has a free trial and then converts to a paid subscription. (no affiliate) It seems pretty intense and can be used across multiple devices.  Of course, if you subscribe to my newsletter, I am giving away a free resource where I share 3 tried and true productivity hacks that keep me sane, organized, and productive.  I also share some free blocker resources.

Graduation

Graduation is getting SO CLOSE, yet it seems so far away.  I found out I will be graduating Magna Cum Laud. Very excited and I have worked so hard to reach this achievement.  I just need to finish this semester first.  I have everything listed out that I need to get done and I have 2 projects, 2 papers, and an online discussion question. Most of it is started and I am hoping to take advantage of some quiet time this weekend to wrap up a couple of papers. With graduation only a few short weeks away, I registered for my first grad school classes.  It looks like I will be committing at least two more years to my education.

Reading

I finished up another book for the Modern Mrs. Darcy 2016 Reading Challenge.  After I finish the semester I am likely going to create a page on my website where I start tracking the books I read with a little blurb. I am definitely jumping out of my comfort zone with a few of these reads.

Speaking of reading, I ran across a few articles that I thought I would share that I found quite interesting.

First, this is a great Forbes article on why introverts make great leaders. I found this article particularly intriguing since I lean heavily towards introvert on the Briggs-Myers Personality Test.

As I am approaching graduation, I am thinking about careers quite a bit and why it is important to find a fun place to work. I actually found this article and saved it in Evernote a couple of semesters ago because I was so impressed with how Poppin treats their employees. The workspace is amazing and they have a pretty amazing work culture so that they inspire their employees to “work happy”. I seriously need to up my game with my home office and it looks like Poppin has some pretty amazing office supplies to make that happen.

So that wraps up last week.  What did you get accomplished? Are you working on any school projects?
