Weekend Reflections: Presentations, Webinars & Reading

I think weekends are a great opportunity to catch your breath from projects, spend time with family and friends, and just kick back and have some fun. It is also a great time for reflection, not only on how your week went, but also a chance to think about what you should do differently moving forward. The weekend is also a great opportunity to grab a cup of java and catch up on some reading. If you are at home and enjoy the ambiance of a coffee shop, check out this Coffivity. They say their sounds are scientifically proven to help you increase your productivity and you can select sounds from Morning Murmurs to University Undertones.Come find out what’s going on around here with presentations, webinars, and the latest readings.

Presentations

I have taken 3 different courses that have continued to grow my knowledge of all things PowerPoint, and at least three times that many in utilizing that knowledge. Now I have reached the grand finale of presentations for my Capstone course where I have to do a personal branding presentation utilizing everything I have learned technically to share my love and knowledge of productivity, performance improvement, and training & development.

As an added bonus, I working with some high school students to create a PowerPoint presentation featuring news stories from the 70s to today. Now that the hard part of writing all the articles is over they are getting the chance to work on the formatting. They are working with voice recording, animations, timing, and formatting the text and backgrounds. They are excited to see the final presentation after all the hard work. I am excited for them, they have worked hard this year.

Webinars

Back in the day, I loved going to seminars. It gave me the opportunity to network and learn something new at the same time. Currently, I am OBSESSED with webinars. I have been learning so much, not only about blogging but about online business in general.  I have also watched some webinars on productivity and it is amazing that even after all this schooling I always pick up a new nugget of knowledge.  Think Creative Collective is always conducting great webinars for bloggers. Michael Hyatt, of course, always seems to have a great webinar available. Are there any great webinars that you listen to?  What about podcasts? Any that you listen to for educational purposes? What about listen to just for fun?

Reading

This week I started reading Unstuffed. I haven’t gotten as far as I like due to the end of the school year, what I have read so far is amazing. Ruth says, “Unstuffed is written for every woman who currently feels stressed out and weighed down by homes and schedules that feel chaotic, out-of-control, and completely overstuffed. It speaks to the mom who is overwhelmed with the vast quantities of STUFF that comes pouring into her home, from trinkets and paperwork to endless obligations and activities, and who craves not just a step-by-step guide to ridding her life of clutter, but a true understanding of why our lives become so stuffed—and what we can do to stop the madness, once and for all.”

Want to finally get #Unstuffed this year? @RuthSoukup’s new book is a must-read! http://amzn.to/1WLSx5CClick To Tweet

I also found a couple of interesting articles this week that I wanted to share with you.

Trello, a fun productivity app (that reminds me of electronic post-its) that I like to use to manage projects, conducted a survey of its users to discover just how they work.  Reading the survey results was quite interesting, but not surprising as it seemed to confirm what I already believed to be true.Tell me what you think. Are you surprised?

Mindtools, a website I have used for several of my college courses, sent out a detailed article this week about SMART goals. There is so much information floating around the internet about goal setting and I will readily admit that SMART goals are certainly the best ones.  This summer I am going to release a goal setting series about how to move your SMART goals from paper to reality. I can’t wait to share it with you.
