So many people, myself included, often complain about not having enough time to do things. Even better, is when I hear, “_____ has more time than I do”. Correct me if I am wrong, but don’t we all have the same amount every day? The better comment is, “My time commitments are currently full so if I want to do something new I will have to give up a current activity.”
Time Wasters
Confession: I can binge on Netflix. This is the one time I do try to multi-task with simple projects due to the sheer guilt I have for this obsession. To be fair, I also binge on Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu as well. Seriously, it is so easy to let time get away from you when the tv is on. I have to be super careful in this area. I can also waste the day away curled up to a good book. Of course, waste is a relative term as far as a book goes. The truth is, social media is one of the biggest time wasters of all. I have greatly reduced my time on social media with tips I learned in a bonus product I got with the Elite Blog Academy 2.0 course I am taking. It has been rather freeing.
Evaluating Priorities
So perhaps the problem isn’t a matter of time, but rather priorities. It isn’t that another person has more time, just different priorities. Please note that I am not always saying better priorities- just different. Now, if I whine because I am not achieving my goals at the same pace as someone else in the same field then I need to take a hard look at where my time has gone. Have I wasted hours away on Netflix or did my priorities shift temporarily to a new focus? The truth is this does happen. It doesn’t mean failure it just means you used your resources in a different way. I think this is why it is a good idea to evaluate yourself on an annual basis and check priorities on a quarterly, monthly, and even weekly basis.
