Monday Motivation: Successes Often Follow Failures

Sometimes in life, it is just easier to quit. Sometimes quitting is necessary. Many times, though, we give up because what we are doing is difficult. Failure is a tough pill to swallow, but there is so much that can be learned from our failures.

Failures Allow for Character Development

Failure reveals so much about your character. It brings out both the good and the bad. It is critical that we take these opportunities to improve in this area. I honestly believe character development is far more important than any success we can achieve.

Failures Allow for Evaluation

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Thomas Edison made changes after every time his bulb failed. When we take the time to evaluate our failures we have the opportunity to discover flaws so we can make improvements on our next attempt.

Failure Often Precedes Success

I think when we see people succeed that we automatically believe they succeed from the beginning. We typically don’t see their failures because they happen in the background and out of the public’s eye. Failures do happen because failures often precede success.

So how do you turn failures into successes?

I believe it starts with developing character through our failures. Second, we evaluate our failures so that we can learn and grow from them.
